Pasquale “Pat” Brocco took control of his health and shed hundreds of pounds in a drastic way.
At 605 pounds, Brocco had been given nicknames like “Fatty Patty” and “Pat Steaks” his whole life. It wasn’t until his doctor warned him that his excessive weight was putting his life in danger that he realized something had to change.
“My stomach was down to my thighs. My chest was hanging down here,” he told ABC, gesturing to his stomach. “I was disgusted.”
Brocco threw out all the food in his house and made him self walk the mile from his house to WalMart any time he wanted food.
“You walk to WalMart three times a day, and you end up walking six miles,” he said. “It’s amazing because I never walked six miles in my life, and I was doing it everyday.”
Brocco’s new habit helped him shed 200 pounds in less than two years.
He also took a hard look at his diet and replaced things like fast food chicken nuggets, candy bars and milkshakes with sweet potatoes, egg whites and lean bison meat.
Now 330 pounds lighter, Brocco hopes his weight loss will set a good example for his 1-year-old son that anything is possible with hard work.
